5 Life Lessons I Wish I Knew at 20: A Reflection at 33

In retrospect, life’s journey is filled with twists and turns, and the lessons we learn along the way shape our perspectives and choices. At 33 years old, I find myself reflecting on the past and contemplating the five key lessons I wish I had known at the age of 20. Join me on this journey as I share insights that could potentially spare you from making the same mistakes I did over the last 13 years.

  1. Understanding Money Better:
Looking back, one of the primary things I would have done differently is to gain a better understanding of money. Personal finance is rarely taught in schools, leaving us unprepared for managing wealth, savings, and cultivating a healthy relationship with income and expenses. Whether adopting the conservative Dave Ramsey approach or the more risk-oriented Grant Cardone mindset, the key is to find a perspective that aligns with your financial goals and principles.
  2. Investing in High-Paying Skills:
If I could turn back time, I would invest my time, energy, and attention into acquiring high-paying skills. In the rapidly evolving landscape of the job market, skills such as video editing, software engineering, coding, marketing, and sales hold immense value. While conventional advice often emphasizes secure job paths, the true wealth lies in entrepreneurship and cultivating skills that open doors to financial success.
  3. Taking Care of Physical Well-being:
Physical health is wealth, a lesson that became apparent to me as I aged. If given the chance to advise my younger self, I would advocate for moderation in alcohol consumption and a greater focus on maintaining overall well-being. The mind-body connection is a crucial aspect of a fulfilling life, and investing time in healthy habits from a young age can yield long-term benefits.
  4. Embracing Humility and a Growth Mindset:
At 20, it’s easy to feel invincible and believe we have life figured out. However, adopting humility and cultivating a growth mindset is crucial. Recognizing that we don’t know everything opens the door to continuous learning and personal development. As a 33-year-old, I value humility and the realization that there is always more to discover and understand.
  5. Trying More Things and Embracing Variety:
Perhaps my favorite lesson learned over the years is the importance of trying new things. At 20, I wish I had been more open to diverse experiences, from rock climbing and kayaking to playing instruments and exploring unconventional paths. Embracing variety not only enriches life but also helps break free from monotonous routines, preventing the feeling of being stuck.

Life is a journey filled with opportunities for growth and learning. While I can’t go back in time, sharing these insights serves as a guide for those navigating their own paths. Embracing financial literacy, investing in valuable skills, prioritizing physical well-being, fostering humility and a growth mindset, and trying new things can contribute to a more fulfilling and successful life. As we continue to evolve, may we all find wisdom in the lessons that shape our unique journeys.

Finding Balance: My Journey from Hustle Culture to Work-Life Harmony

Do you also feel guilty for taking time off? That’s how I used to be.

My life used to revolved around an unrelenting work schedule—70 hours a week, hitting the gym at 5 AM, and working from 7 AM to 10 PM. The relentless pursuit of success and financial stability consumed me, and I prided myself on being a part of the notorious “hustle culture.”

In hindsight, all that hard work did pay off. I gained invaluable insights into business and successfully built an income stream, making it a worthwhile investment. However, as I reflect on those years now, I realize that I was unwittingly sacrificing more than I bargained for.

My tunnel vision on accumulating wealth blinded me to the toll it took on my personal life. The hustle culture, with its relentless work ethic, had become my mantra, but it came at a high cost. I missed out on meaningful moments with family and friends, and the guilt associated with taking personal time loomed over every break.

The price of success, it seemed, was a life dominated by work. The more I delved into this relentless pursuit, the more I lost touch with the delicate balance between physical and mental well-being. Burnouts, constant stress, overwhelming responsibilities, and a lack of control over my own schedule became the harsh realities of my life.

A couple of years ago, I decided it was time for a change. The realization struck that I needed to create a harmonious balance between work and personal life. My journey towards achieving this equilibrium involved embracing various methods such as time management, task prioritization, and dedicating time for self-care. I sought inspiration from renowned gurus, meditators, and counselors, absorbing their wisdom in a quest for a healthier, more balanced life.

During this transformative period, I not only learned how to make even more money by helping others do the same through my Life Coaching, but also discovered the art of having time for my personal life. It wasn’t just about working harder; it was about working smarter, about making intentional choices that aligned with my personal values and priorities.

One key realization was that achieving work-life balance doesn’t mean compromising on success. In fact, it enhances it. By prioritizing tasks, setting boundaries, and allocating time for self-care, I found myself not only more productive but also happier. The fear of missing out on opportunities diminished as I learned to strike a balance that allowed me to excel professionally and nurture my personal life.

As I delved deeper into my quest for balance, I developed my own ideas and strategies that seamlessly integrated with my day-to-day life. It wasn’t just about following others’ advice; it was about tailoring those principles to fit my unique circumstances. This personalized approach proved to be a game-changer, allowing me to achieve both professional success and personal fulfillment.

In conclusion, my journey from hustle culture to work-life harmony has been transformative. While the hustle mindset undoubtedly propelled me towards financial success, and to a certain extent it is still there, it also taught me the importance of balance. The pursuit of success should not come at the expense of personal well-being and meaningful relationships. By embracing a more balanced approach, I’ve not only maintained my professional achievements but have also reclaimed my personal life, enjoying it without the weight of guilt. As I continue this journey, I hope to inspire others to reassess their priorities and find their own path to a fulfilling and balanced life.

Remember, It’s okay to take time for yourself.

Life is a beautiful yet challenging adventure, filled with highs and lows, victories and defeats.

In the face of adversity, the most powerful weapon we possess is the unyielding spirit within us.

Today, I want to share with you a timeless truth, a mantra that has echoed through the ages: Never give up. These three words encapsulate a philosophy that transcends time and circumstance. They embody the indomitable human spirit that refuses to be crushed, that rises from the ashes of failure, and that perseveres in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges.

Life, my friends, is not a smooth road. It’s a journey with twists, turns, and unexpected detours. There will be moments when the path ahead seems steep, when the clouds of doubt cast shadows upon your dreams. But in those moments, remember this: adversity is not a signal to surrender; it is a call to action.

The most successful individuals in history were not exempt from setbacks.

They faced adversity head-on, weathered storms, and emerged stronger, wiser, and more resilient. Thomas Edison once said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Imagine the opportunities missed, the breakthroughs foregone, if they had surrendered to despair.

Let us embrace a mindset that sees challenges not as obstacles but as stepping stones to greatness. Each setback is a lesson, each failure a stepping stone towards success. It’s not about the number of times you fall; it’s about the number of times you rise after each fall.

Look around you, and you’ll find countless stories of individuals who refused to be defined by their circumstances. They turned their stumbling blocks into stepping stones. They transformed rejection into motivation, and setbacks into comebacks.

You have a reservoir of untapped potential within you, waiting to be unleashed. Your dreams, aspirations, and goals are not mere whims of fantasy; they are the blueprints of your destiny. It’s time to channel your inner strength, to summon the courage to persevere when others falter.

Remember, the road to success is not a sprint; it’s a marathon.

Pace yourself, but keep moving forward. The journey may be long and arduous, but with each step, you get closer to your dreams. And when you feel fatigue setting in, when doubts creep in, remember these words: Never give up.

Today, I challenge you to defy the odds, to rise above the naysayers, and to prove wrong those who doubt your capabilities. Your journey is unique, and your destination is waiting for you to claim it. Embrace the struggles, for they are the forge that will shape your character. Embrace the setbacks, for they are the canvas upon which your resilience is painted.

So, my friends, let the world see the fire in your eyes, the determination in your heart, and the unshakeable resolve in your spirit. Never give up, for within you lies the power to overcome, to triumph, and to achieve beyond your wildest dreams.

Thank you, and may your journey be marked with unwavering perseverance and unparalleled success.

A Clean House for a Clean Mind

Every Sunday, I do a deep clean of my entire house with my fiancé. This gives us peace when we wake up Monday morning.

But this is not about chores. It’s about RESPECT. Respect for your mental health.

And if you want respect for yourself then you have to have some DIGNITY.

Dignity by keeping your area in ORDER before you judge someone else’s area.

This has nothing to do with discipline, willpower, peak fitness, or high performance. This is about respect and mental health.

A clean house for a clean mind.

Happy Sunday ✌️

How to Navigate a break-up

I’m not a licensed therapist, but I can offer some general advice on navigating a relationship breakup. We’ve all been there at one point or another, right? It’s tough! Keep in mind that everyone’s situation is unique, so it’s important to tailor these suggestions to your specific needs and circumstances. If you’re really struggling getting over your ex, consider seeking professional help from a therapist or counselor.

  1. Allow Yourself to Grieve:
Understand that it’s normal to feel a range of emotions after a breakup, including sadness, anger, and confusion. Allow yourself to grieve the end of the relationship.
  2. Give Yourself Time:
Healing takes time, so be patient with yourself. Don’t rush the process, and try not to put pressure on yourself to “get over it” quickly.
  3. Maintain No Contact:
Consider implementing a period of no contact with your ex-partner. This can help both of you gain clarity and space to process your feelings without interference.
  4. Focus on Self-Care:
Take care of your physical and emotional well-being. Get enough sleep, eat well, exercise, and engage in activities that bring you joy. Taking care of yourself is crucial during this challenging time.
  5. Lean on Support Systems:
Reach out to friends and family for emotional support. Share your feelings with those you trust, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when needed.
  6. Reflect on the Relationship:
Use this time for self-reflection. Consider what you’ve learned from the relationship, both positive and negative, and how you can use this knowledge for personal growth.
  7. Set Boundaries:
Establish clear boundaries with your ex-partner to avoid confusion and unnecessary emotional turmoil. This includes limiting or avoiding contact, at least in the initial stages.
  8. Rediscover Yourself:
Take this opportunity to rediscover your individual interests, passions, and goals. Reconnect with aspects of your life that may have been overshadowed by the relationship.
  9. Seek Professional Support:
If you find it challenging to cope with the breakup on your own, consider seeking support from a therapist or counselor. They can provide guidance and a safe space to express your feelings.
  10. Avoid Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms:
Be mindful of unhealthy coping mechanisms such as excessive alcohol or substance use. Instead, focus on positive outlets like hobbies, mindfulness, or creative activities.

Remember that healing from a breakup is a gradual process, and it’s okay to seek help when needed. If your emotions become overwhelming, consider reaching out to a mental health professional for support.
